In its first year, the Best Workplaces™ in Hospitality is an industry recognition compiled by Great Place to Work Ireland to recognise the top hotels who are paving the way for greatness in the hospitality industry. With nearly 40,000 employees in the hotel industry invited to be surveyed in the last couple of years, Great Place to Work were able to investigate and understand the employee experience within these workplaces – 51 organisations are today being acknowledged as the best in the sector.
Great Place to Work are delighted to shine a vital spotlight on the hotel industry, showcasing it as an outstanding field for career growth and innovation. By earning recognition as a Best Workplace in Hospitality, these hotels not only boost their reputation as a leading workplace in this space, but also positions the entire hospitality sector as highly competitive in attracting top talent. This emphasis on excellence helps draw skilled professionals seeking rewarding careers, in turn enhancing the sector’s overall appeal and capacity for sustained success.
Due to the industry’s inherently people-centric nature, prioritising employee needs is paramount; when the quality of service is directly influenced by the attitudes and wellbeing of staff, ensuring that employees feel valued, supported, and motivated is crucial. When surveyed by Great Place to Work, 80% of employees at these organisations agreed with the statement “taking everything into account, I would say this is a great place to work”. A further 84% agreed that they are “proud to tell others they work here”. When it comes to opinions on leadership, the sentiment among employees at the Best Workplaces in Hospitality is positive – 83% feel that management is approachable and easy to talk with.
Prioritising employee needs helps attract and retain top talent, reducing recruitment and training costs. By investing in their workforce through continuous professional development, fair compensation, and a positive work environment, the Best Workplaces in Hospitality have built resilient, dedicated teams, essential for sustaining long-term success and competitiveness.
This recognition uses the global standard Best Workplaces methodology as its basis. To be considered for this recognition, participating organisations are required to be Certified™ as a Great Place to Work first and be in the hotel sector.
