CORK HOTELIERS ANNOUNCE TOURISM FUNDRAISING DRIVE
Tourism Dance in Support of Tourism-Related Activities across Cork
The Cork Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) is holding a tourism fundraising event on Thursday, 21st November as part of a drive to raise funds for tourism initiatives throughout Cork City and County in 2014. The Black Tie Dinner Dance, which will be held at the Maryborough Hotel, Douglas, Co. Cork, is open to all tourism businesses and organisations in the region and is an ideal social networking occasion.
On the night, the winner of Cork’s inaugural Hotel & Guesthouse Employee of the Year award will be announced. The annual award has been established to shine a light on the outstanding contribution individual employees make to Cork’s hotels industry and its wider tourism product. The recipient will act as an ambassador for Cork’s tourism industry for the following twelve months.
“The outlook for tourism in Cork is more positive on foot of increased overseas visitors this year,” says Michael Magner, Chairman of the IHF Cork Branch. “As the ‘Year of The Gathering’ draws to a close, however, tourism faces significant challenges as we redouble our efforts to promote Cork as a vibrant and attractive destination – both domestically and overseas.”
“Part of the challenge lies in how we market Cork to prospective visitors, communicating new and compelling reasons to visit. All tourism businesses have a role to play and I would encourage those interested in supporting Cork’s marking effort to join us at this year’s Tourism Dance.”
