Statement on Quarantine Facilities
IHF President, Elaina Fitzgerald Kane
Tuesday, 26 January 2021: “Following today’s announcement by the Government in relation to quarantine measures (link), the hotel sector will engage with the relevant authorities to help in whatever way we can with regards to providing quarantine facilities. We expect that the number of hotels required will be small and in the vicinity of airports.
Participation will be a matter for individual hotels. Some hotels are already providing various supports to the essential services including the HSE, local authorities and other state bodies. Health and safety is the first priority for hotels including guests, suppliers and our teams. To ensure this, hotels have adopted stringent practices, policies and procedures in line with public health advice, regulations and guidelines.
"When considering the provision of facilities for quarantine purposes, decisions will have to be made around the suitability of the property from a structural and location perspective and some of the current safety protocols may need to be reviewed, depending on the nature of the support that is being provided.
