Additional air services will provide welcome boost for local tourism businesses

Hoteliers have welcomed today’s announcement that Ryanair is to significantly increase its air services into Ireland West Airport Knock in 2014 with the addition of three new routes and increased frequencies on its London route.

Mr Vaughan, President of the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) said the announcement is a strong vote of confidence in the region’s local tourism product following the Government’s decision to scrap the air travel tax.

He said: “The additional routes are good news for tourism in Mayo and the West of Ireland and will help build on the gains made this year during The Gathering. In particular, the Eindhoven route and additional London capacity will provide a very welcome boost for tourism businesses, including hotels and guesthouses.”

“We look forward to working with Tourism Ireland and Knock Airport to ensure the potential of these new routes is fully maximised as part our wider marketing approach for the region, including the Wild Atlantic Way next year”
