The Fitzwilton Hotel, one of Waterford City’s finest 4* Hotels has recently completed a €650,000 refurbishment programme.
The investment has refurbished all 90 of the hotels rooms & suites in addition to the hotel’s dining facilities of Chez K’s Bistro and the Met Bar.
Work commenced on October 3rd on the bedrooms programme and was completed on schedule before the Christmas party season commenced.
The room refurbishment consisted of new furniture fittings, carpets, curtains, wallpapering, lighting, art and soft furnishings in all of the rooms. A complete change of colour was brought to all rooms introducing warm autumnal colours throughout. All rooms were fitted with new beds and mattresses earlier in the year in addition to new 37’’ flat screen TV’s.
Chez K’s Bistro has also been given a new lease of life and has been completely revamped from its former style. Completed with new feature wall lights and art work, feature wall paper and paint work throughout in addition to a new tiled bar feature. Again, a complete colour change was introduced playing with oceanic colours of whites and blues combined.
Sales and Marketing Manager Shay Bollard points out “we wish to maintain the highest standards at The Fitzwilton Hotel and the refurbishment will certainly enhance our guests’ experience combining style, elegance and comfort.”
The Fitzwilton Hotel first opened its doors in 2006 and is managed on behalf of its owner by Dalata Hotel Group, Ireland’s largest hotel operator.
Geoff Dawson, the hotel’s General Manager spoke about the exciting times ahead ‘we were delighted to get this project off the ground which has entailed fully refurbishing all 90 of the hotels rooms and suites including works to the hotels bar and bistro facilities also. On the back of a number of very successful years of operation these welcome improvements will indeed strengthen our position as one of Waterford’s leading hotels. The works started on the 3rd of October this year and so the pressure was on to be ready for the Christmas party season. With over 1,000 revellers booked for our party nights, we wanted to ensure everybody got to experience our new rooms and bistro design in all its glory, and thankfully, we came good on our promise.
The hotels refurbishment is an indication of the positivity currently circulating in the tourism industry in addition to our current owner investing with confidence in the property and the city of Waterford.’
